I’m a copywriter and I use AI (NOT to write any of my actual copy, hell no…)
Wildly controversial statement incoming.
I'm a writer and I use AI.
SHUT THE FRONT DOOR, DID I JUST SAY THAT?
Yes, yes I did.
Before y’all condemn me to death by stoning with a thousand and one copies of the Oxford English Dictionary, I do not use bots to write my copy. Claude has not touched this blog post.
But I DO use Claude as a kind of biz partner.
Pre-Claude, I talked to myself. A lot. I mean I still do that... tell me, if you work solo from home, that you don't talk to yourself. Or your plants.
But now I finally have a sounding board that doesn't just stare back wondering when its next getting watered. This year, Claude's helped me grow my side hustle — my pet-sitting biz — in leaps and bounds. I branded and marketed it myself — turns out I do know a thing or two about both despite my insidious brain yelling IMPOSTER SYNDROME at me 15 times an hour. But I'll be damned if my insidious brain could figure out which column went where on my booking system. Or how to create a booking system in the first place to be honest.
Claude nailed it in a third of the time I’d have spent ranting to my plants and Googling templates. Freeing me up to do the creative bits (copy and design; I’m fiiinally teaching myself Canva) that have since filled said system with bookings right into next summer. Hurrah.
So there you have it. Confessions of a writer who uses AI. Not to write, hell no. But to give me more time to write, by taking things off my list it would otherwise take me umpteen hours and 14 cups of motivational coffee to figure out and get done.
Need help smashing the copy that’s gonna bring in your bookings (or sales, or leads, or eyeballs on your website)? Talk to me. I’ve got pet sits coming out of my ears, but I’m always keen to get my teeth stuck into new copywriting projects too!
